Clinical Treatments

Protocols designed for large body surfaces — not adapted from facial acne routines.

Topical Therapy

First-line treatment combines benzoyl peroxide washes for the entire trunk with prescription retinoid creams or gels applied to affected zones. We select formulations that spread easily and do not bleach clothing excessively.

Oral Medications

Moderate to severe body acne often requires systemic therapy. Our physicians prescribe doxycycline or minocycline for inflammatory disease, spironolactone for hormonal truncal acne in women, and isotretinoin for recalcitrant cystic bacne under iPLEDGE protocols.

In-Office Procedures

Back & Chest Peels

Salicylic and glycolic acid peels covering large areas to unclog follicles and reduce post-inflammatory marks.

Comedone Extraction

Professional removal of stubborn blackheads across the shoulders and upper back in a sterile setting.

Blue Light Therapy

Non-invasive bacterial reduction for inflammatory papules when oral antibiotics are contraindicated.

Scar Revision

Microneedling and fractional laser for textural scarring and hyperpigmentation after active acne clears.

Treatment Timeline

Most patients see meaningful improvement within eight to twelve weeks. Cystic bacne on isotretinoin may require five to six months. We schedule follow-up visits every four to six weeks during active treatment with standardized photography to document progress.

Insurance & Pricing

Medical visits and prescriptions are often covered by insurance. Cosmetic peels and laser scar treatments are elective with transparent pricing provided at consultation.
